Omni Hotel Downtown at Cnn Center - Atlanta Georgia
Convention hotel in CNN Center Located within CNN Center, the Omni is just across the street from the Georgia World Congress Center, adjacent to Philips Arena, and five blocks from Atlanta’s famous central “Five Points” intersection of Peachtree and Marietta streets. Most of the 467 rooms overlook Centennial Olympic Park on one side or into the CNN Center atrium on the other side. Lush, oversized furnishings are found throughout the hotel and especially in the rooms, featuring crown moldings, high headboards, big work desks, and marble bathrooms. Because of its association with CNN, an international theme runs through the recently refurbished lobby (2002). A glass exterior overlooks Centennial Park and allows plenty of light to hit the 24-foot compass inlaid in the granite, metal, and marble floor. Overstuffed sofas and chairs offer tempting breaks underneath a gallery of color photographs capturing historic moments in CNN broadcasting.

AMENITIES & SERVICES
What to expect: The hotel is big, lush, and equipped to please. Opened in 1975, this was the first of the Omni Hotels, a chain that now features more than 40 hotels across North America. Turner Broadcasting acquired full ownership of the hotel in 1986, although it still is managed by Omni Hotels. It’s all about being pampered at this luxury hotel, where the staff strives to fulfill every guest’s needs. The addition of a new 24-story tower and 600 new rooms by 2004 signals its intent of being one of the leading convention hotels in the Southeast. Amenity highlights: Get the old-time hotel feel in the Omni lobby, with its numerous sitting areas and wide range of amenities, including Nelda’s Hair Salon and the Peachtree Newsstand. The hotel also boasts the “best shoe-shine stand in Atlanta,” according to local sources. Underneath the Omni is a MARTA rail line, which runs to the airport as well as to other popular Atlanta destinations. Insider tip: No time to get to the fitness center? Guests can ask the front desk for a “Get Fit Kit,” which includes a floor mat, two hand weights, and elastic bands for a mini workout in the comfort and privacy of the guestroom.
